Automate with Lua

Markdown and HTML documents can run Lua while they are typeset, and a Lua script can build a whole PDF on its own.

  • Lua in documents covers the companion file, Lua blocks, inline expressions and the _aux table.
  • Callbacks run your Lua functions at document start, for every page, after single elements and at the end. They work in Lua scripts as well as in the companion file of a document.
  • Lua script mode gives a .lua file full control over the PDF.
